Initial Women4Donkeys Matching Campaign Raises $100,000 to Date for Brooke USA

Brooke USA Ambassador Margaret H. Duprey stepped forward in February 2018 with a matching campaign that would change the lives of hundreds of thousands of women and donkeys in Kitui County, Kenya. Together, Duprey and Brooke USA launched Women4Donkeys, with Duprey personally matching dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000. On July 9, the $50,000 goal was successfully met.

U.S. Senate Committee Takes a Stand to Protect Horses and Burros

The United States Senate Appropriations Committee passed the FY19 Agriculture Appropriations bill with a provision to maintain the ban on the slaughter of horses and burros for human consumption on U.S. soil. The provision bars spending by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to inspect horse slaughterhouses, saving millions of taxpayer dollars, and effectively banning horse slaughter in the United States.
