Road to the Horse has a passion for education. From its inception in 2003, Road to the Horse has been driven to inspire and educate fans on the fundamentals of natural horsemanship. Creating a solid foundation is a key principle of Road to the Horse and there is no place more fitting for education, than in the collegiate equestrian arena. In conjunction with the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and Western Horseman, Road to the Horse is proud to host the very first Road to the Horse Collegiate Colt Starting Challenge which will take place in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 5 and 6, 2020.
Held in conjunction with the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, three top collegiate teams will each gentle a 6666 Ranch filly, over two days of competition. The teams will earn their spot during the Stock Horse of Texas World Championship Show, which is held on October 25 – 27, 2019. The two top teams finishing in Division l, and the top team from Division ll, will have the opportunity to compete for Road to the Horse scholarships and prizes. Stock Horse Team Coaches will select the team members who will represent their college or university in the Road to the Horse 2020 Collegiate Colt Starting Challenge from the student body.
