The Dressage Foundation (TDF) is now accepting applications for the 2019 Young Rider International Dream Program. Participants selected for this year’s program will travel to Germany to attend the dressage competitions at the CHIO Aachen in July.
The program is open to Young Riders, 16-21 years of age, and 22-year-old riders who participated in Young Riders last year, who are riding and competing at Fourth Level or above. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens. The tentative dates for the trip have been set for July 15-22, 2019.
The concept of the program evolved as a result of former Olympian Michael Poulin’s wish to offer an opportunity for gifted Young Riders to enhance their understanding of dressage theory through a European tour.
The application and further information on this extraordinary program are available at www.dressagefoundation.org. Applications must be received by The Dressage Foundation’s office on or before Monday, April 8, 2019.
Candidates are selected based on their applications including an essay, video, and written recommendations. Selection Committee members want to see riding proficiency, commitment to training in the sport of dressage, and a history of volunteering in the dressage community.
The Dressage Foundation is also accepting applications for two adult chaperones to accompany the Young Riders on the 2019 International Dream Program trip. Please visit www.dressagefoundation.org for the application and details about the qualifications. Chaperone applications are also due by April 8th.
This program is made possible by donors to The Dressage Foundation, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization whose mission is “To cultivate and provide financial support for the advancement of dressage in the United States.”
