International Horse Conference Draws from 15 states and counting

The Best Horse Practices Summit, a new equine conference in Durango this October, has attendees coming from 15 states and Canada to see and hear from some of the best minds in the horse world.

Last month, Patagonia, the renowned clothing company, stepped up to outfit all the presenters with their new WorkWear line of jackets and shirts. The California company joins our excellent roster of charter sponsors.

The 2017 Summit lineup:

Wendy Williams, author of the best-selling The Horse: The Epic History of Our Noble Companion, will give the keynote address.

Dr. Robert Bowker, former director of the Equine Foot Laboratory at Michigan State University. 

Dr. Gerd Heuschmann, German veterinarian, rider, and author fueled the fire under the International Equestrian Federation in 2007 by releasing the now best-selling book, Tug of War: Classical versus Modern Dressage. 

Dr. Sheryl King, professor emeritus at Southern Illinois University and a popular international presenter on equine behavior. 

Dr. Steve Peters & Martin Black are co-authors of the popular book and DVD, Evidence-Based Horsemanship. 

Warwick Schiller, originally from Australia and now living in California. His accomplishments include NRHA (National Reining Horse Association) Reserve World Champion and representing Australia in reining at the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games.  

Jim Thomas runs Bar T Horsemanship in Pittsboro, North Carolina. He has started scores of BLM wild horses and competed in multiple Extreme Mustang Makeovers. 

Randy Rieman, Bryan and Kate Neubert will celebrate the legacy of Bill & Tom Dorrance.
