The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales were held Oct. 2-4 in Reno, Nev., during the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity. The two Select sessions recorded increases in averages, with the highest seller coming from the Select Yearling and Broodmare Sale. Hip No. 439, Miss Peptoleno, topped the sale after the gavel fell at $102,000 for the 2013 sorrel filly. Circle Y Ranch consigned the One Time Pepto daughter who was purchased by Merle Fulton of Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches LP.
Out of the Grays Starlight mare Staraleno, Miss Peptoleno is a full sister to National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes Open top 10 finalist Star Lit Pepto ($57,679), and she is a half-sister to NCHA Futurity Open finalist Cattilion ($150,392), High Bob Cat ($71,408), Star Rey Leno ($48,320), Starz N Boon ($32,857) and others. Miss Peptoleno sold as Herda N/HRD, nominated to the NCHA Super Stakes and eligible for the NRCHA Stakes.
The second-highest seller was Hip No. 323, Stylish Metallic, who sold during the Select 2-Year-Old Sale for $99,000. Kay Rankin Williams purchased the 2012 red roan colt from consignor Davis Bros. Performance Horses LLC.
Sired by Metallic Cat, Stylish Metallic is a half-brother to cutters This Cats Stylish ($17,437) and Quejanaisinstyle ($15,775). His dam, Stylish Luv, by Docs Stylish Oak, was fourth in the NCHA Futurity Amateur and earned $25,567 during her cutting career. Stylish Metallic sold in training with Clint Davis and eligible for the NRCHA Stakes.
The Classic Yearling and Broodmare Sale netted $295,100 on 62 head sold for an average of $4,760. The Performance Horse Sale netted $203,800 on 22 head sold for an average of $9,264. The Select 2-Year-Old Sale netted $904,100 on 48 head sold for an average of $18,835. The Select Yearling and Broodmare Sale netted $865,500 on 52 head sold for an average of $16,644.
Overall total sales on 184 head sold were $2,268,500, for an overall average of $12,328.
