The King of the Cowboys (Roy Rogers) was a member of one of the most prestigious clubs in the country: 4-H. Since 1898, 4-H has been teaching leadership, community awareness, self-worth and sportsmanship to youth. At the same time members are learning about specific areas of interest. These topics could be photography, farming, computers, shooting sports, animals (rabbits, cattle, sheep, goats, horses, etc.)....the list is almost endless.
One of the most popular 4-H projects is the equine program. Joining a 4-H horse club offers members the opportunity to learn about horses through learning-by-doing, while being mentored by qualified volunteers. The program covers horsemanship, the management and care of horses and ethical treatment.
