Dawn Bernardo, Rick Rockefeller-Silvia and Dream Street Stallions dominated the spotlight at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, winning in both the Open and Adult Amateur divisions over the first two weeks of competition in February at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, FL.
Rubinero (Rubenstein 1 x Ex Libris x Furioso) owned by Equine Imports LLC, was ridden by Bernardo to a 67.763% win in the FEI Prix St Georges during the AGDF4 National Show, February 1-2. The pair soon delivered winning scores yet again, this time during the AGDF5 CDI 4*/3*, February 6-9, in the Adult Amateur division FEI Intermediare I classes on Thursday (60.396%) and Saturday (62.10%).
The 16.3 hand, 14 year-old black, approved Oldenburg stallion, who received a 10 for Rideability at his stallion licensing in Neustadt/Dosse, was imported to the U.S. just in time to begin his winning ways at Wellington.
“This is a new combination,” said Rockefeller-Silvia. “Dawn has only ridden Rubinero for two months. The two are just getting to know one another, which makes their winning even more impressive.”
"I'm so pleased with Rubinero. I'm incredibly blessed to have such an amazing stallion as my competition partner,” Bernardo said, adding her appreciation towards Gudula Vorweck for the opportunity to purchase the horse.
Rockefeller-Silvia and Desperado were first in Week Five's Open division FEI Intermediare I, and the Dream Street horseman was especially complimented by the 65.526% score for the 11 year-old, 17.1 hand, imported Austrian Warmblood handed in by (O) judge G. Rockwell and (I) judge K. McClain. Desperado, who stands at Dream Street Stallions, is by Dream of Glory, Germany's 1999 best Young Stallions dressage sire and PSI Auktionen Stallion of the Year, and his grandsire, Donnerhall, is known as “the most successful dressage horse in the world.”
Bernardo, who is from Wellington, and Rockefeller-Silvia, from Palm Beach, also operate a Dream Street Stallions summer facility outside of Chicago, and expect a busy season ahead. Bernardo will debut a musical Freestyle with Rubinero while on small tour at the Global Dressage Festival CDIO 3* and continue riding small tour this summer while aiming for Devon.
“Desperado,” Rockefeller-Silvia said with more confidence than ever coming off this latest win, “will move into the Grand Prix arena this summer.”
