The Carolina Cup Racing Association will honor Tuskegee Airman Dr. Leroy Bowman, Lt USAF (Ret) at the 44th Annual Marion du Pont Scott Colonial Cup on Saturday November 23, 2013 in Camden. Bowman, who lives in Sumter, served in World War II as one of the Tuskeegee Airmen, a group of “dedicated, determined young men who enlisted to become America's first black military airmen."
For the fourth straight year, the racing association hosts “Saluting our Military” as part of the Colonial Cup and provides thousands of service personnel, active and retired, as well as their family members with complimentary tickets. The international steeplechase races being at 12:30pm, and the morning is packed with family fun and military-themed events beginning at 9:00am.
