Vita Flex Victory Team Dressage Rider Lisa Wilcox Wins Big in Germany

Vita Flex Victory Team dressage rider Lisa Wilcox kicked off her first European tour in six years with a victory gallop on Pikko del Cerro and dominated the top three rankings on October 5 in the CDN Grand Prix CDN at Ankum, Germany.

She also clinched third-place with Denzello, and left Germany-based Briana Burgess of Australia sandwiched between her scores for reserve. Wilcox, a 2004 Olympic Bronze medalist, follows a comprehensive training and nutrition program for her equine athletes that includes Vita Flex® Accel and Vita Flex® Master’s Hoof Blend supplements.

Wilcox scored 70.035% on the Horses’s Unlimited 10-year-old stallion Pikko del Cerro and 68.972% on Denzello for third place.  The Wellington, FL based rider represents one of roughly two dozen American combinations that have been campaigning in Europe this year as part of a revitalized U.S. dressage program, headed by its new chef d'equipe, Robert Dover, in preparation for the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France.

Wilcox used the CDN (requiring three judges instead of five for a CDI) as a step up for Denzello to CDI level and as an indoor 'warm-up' to an international schedule that will ask for three more indoor tests over the next five weeks.

“Denzello was very good. I rode conservatively as this was his first indoor show. I’m glad I had a chance to practice in indoors before Odense (Denmark). The judges came to me after the test and were very impressed with both horses. I’m thrilled to see that, so far, the Germans like my horses,” said Wilcox.

Pikko del Cerro, a Hanoverian stallion (Pik L x Rohdiamant) bred and owned by Horses Unlimited of Albuquerque, New Mexico is one of the top graduates of the 'Born in the USA' program created by Dressage at Devon. Wilcox took over the ride from Danish rider, Mikala Gundersen, after the pair won the 2009 U.S. Six Year-Old title, and went on to win the 2011 U.S. Developing Horse Prix St. Georges and 2012 Developing Horse Grand Prix titles. Since their first CDI Grand Prix together last winter, they have clinched three victories in six starts.

Denzello, a 10 year-old Hanoverian (De Niro x Rhodiamant) gelding owned by Canadian Betty Wells, has been trained and competed by Lisa through national small tour to Grand Prix.

This Vita Flex Victory Team member will flex her muscle later in October at Odense, Denmark for the opening competition of the World Cup Western European League, then continue to Lyon, France for its CDI4* and another World Cup qualifier in November, the German Masters at Stuttgart, before returning to the U.S.
