The competition at the Billingsley Ford Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity is always an intense presentation of some of the world's best 3-year-old reining talent. Prestigious titles are up for grabs and the entire week is a showcase of the new stars emerging center stage.
Along with the high level contest there has long been a spirit of camaraderie and fun with special promotions and events – from a womanless fashion show to a reiners' western pleasure class – all benefiting Rein In Cancer. This year, the newest benefit activity will be the Rein In Cancer Dog Races, set for Friday, October 25 during the Back Gate Pizza Party sponsored by Einsteins Revolution. Everyone is invited to bring a favorite dog and run for the roses.
The Pizza Party is held near the back gate of the arena following the Red River Equine Vet Services Non Pro Futurity, so it will be easy to enjoy a pizza while watching the canine race competition. Everyone is encouraged to bring their dogs for the race. Also benefiting Rein In Cancer during the show, set for October 22 – 27, will be a silent auction.
The Billingsley Ford Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity is held at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Often tagged "Where the Best Go First," it is a must-attend event for reiners. For most, it is the final stop before the National Reining Horse Association Futurity, which begins November 22 in Oklahoma City. It is supported by a group of sponsors led by Billingsley Ford, John Deere Company and Pettit Machinery, Red River Equine Vet Services and the Anderson Bean Boot Company.
Rein In Cancer has raised over a million dollars in the past six years, and current provides direct funding to cancer patients in the horse industry.
