Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic Begins Friday July 5

The Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic horse show will open Friday, July 5, at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Moreland Hills, Ohio, and will run through Saturday, July 20.

While competitors from as far away as Florida and California will be traveling to the Chagrin Valley for this prestigious horse show jumping event, local competitors will take center stage Opening Weekend. Opening Weekend Competition

The Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic will begin with the Schneider Saddlery Opening Weekend, Friday, July 5 through Sunday, July 7. Opening Weekend competitors come primarily from throughout Northeast Ohio, joined by competitors from Pennsylvania and Michigan.

The Opening Weekend competition is approved by the Ohio Professional Horsemen's Association (OPHA), Western Pennsylvania Professional Horsemen's Association (WPaPHA), and Up & Over. These organizations offer year-end awards for members who compete at approved shows throughout the year. Members who compete at the Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic will earn points towards these awards.

Riders with Disabilities Horse Show

Following Opening Weekend, Monday, July 8, the Classic will once again welcome the Riders with Disabilities Horse Show, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Hosted by Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center (FFTRC), this competition gives local riders with disabilities the chance to show off the skills they have learned throughout the year at FFTRC.

Lynnette Stuart, FFTRC Executive Director, explains, "We are so pleased to have students participating as a part of this prestigious show once again. Our riders work very hard all year long to accomplish a wide variety of goals and this event gives them the opportunity to shine in front of their family, friends and other members of our local community. For many of them, it is the highlight of their year!"

The participants will each compete in one of seven divisions, including Carriage Driving, 18 & Over Trail and Equitation, Beginner/Novice/Intermediate Trail and Equitation, and Advanced and Walk/Trot/Canter Dressage, Equitation, and Ground Pole. Spectator Highlights

Following Opening Weekend the show will continue with two weeks of competition rated by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). These two weeks of rated competition will draw competitors from throughout the country. Highlights include the $10,000 Welcome Stake on Friday, July 12, Family Fun Day and the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby on Saturday, July 13, the $30,000 Cleveland Grand Prix on Sunday, July 14, and the $25,000 CVPHA Grand Prix on Saturday, July 20.
