The inaugural USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Championship debuts August 14-15 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. The two-day competition schedule has been announced and work continues on the great hospitality and awards presentations. Among other prizes, several award winners will take home custom embroidered coolers from The Clothes Horse, the official cooler sponsor for this special event!
Pre-Green horses have been competing in Stake classes offered by host competitions nationwide as owners endeavor to showcase their young horses and qualify for the Championship. Any horse enrolled in the program that has competed in a minimum of two USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Stake classes at competitions starting between December 1, 2012, and July 31, 2013, is eligible for the Championship. A list of qualified horses is available online and is updated weekly.
The guaranteed minimum prize money in 2013 is $25,000 plus 65% of all annual enrollment fees collected. A minimum of 50% of each $850 entry fee is also added back to the guaranteed prize money and paid out to award winners in each round. The more horses that enter, the higher the total prize money becomes!
As of June 11, the prize money, before entry fee addback, is $99,002.50. If 50 horses enter and compete, the prize money will total $120,252.50!
With over 100 horses qualified, the potential for a significantly higher prize money total is strong. There is still time to participate as several qualifying Stake classes are on the calendar this summer. Official invitations will begin to be issued mid-June and entries close August 1, 2013, but the prize list and entry forms are available online now for those who would like to enter early.
As part of the effort to encourage American-Bred horses, one of the goals of the Pre-Green Incentive Program, special recognition and awards will be given to the high score American-Bred horse from the first two rounds of the championship. Eligible horses must be declared American-Bred with the USHJA prior to the championship. Please email Kelley Douglas with your declaration.
The United States Hunter Jumper Association thanks all who gave early support of this innovative program several years in the making.
