Award-winning photographer, Arthur Frank, provides a stunning look into thoroughbred racing with photographs taken in the United States, France, and Ireland along with a powerful introductory essay by New York Times sportswriter Joe Drape in this new book simply titled Horse Racing.
This collection of 168 color and black and white photographs capture the beauty and excitement of one of the world’s most popular sports, the Sport of Kings. Images start by following the development of thoroughbred race horses from their days as foals, through training sessions and ultimately to the competition for which they were bred, all of which strikingly portray the athleticism of these extraordinary animals.
Also highlighted are the unique relationships between the horses and those individuals who bred them, own them, train them, care for them, ride them and bet on them. As the photographer is more interested in the sport of horse racing then with celebrity or any specific event, the book offers a unique humanistic depiction of the sport and concludes with a tribute to the winners and loser.
