It was a shout heard around the world when Dan James and Guy McLean won the coveted World Championship of Colt Starting title for Team Australia in March 2012.
In an intense race filled with many twists and turns, Team USA made up of nationally acclaimed clinicians Craig Cameron and Pat Parelli and Team Canada, consisting of Glenn Stewart and Jonathan Field made this a competition which came down to the wire.
When the dust settled, Team Australia walked away with the title and the Gist Silversmith buckles but Australian native, Dan James didn’t just walk away with the buckle, he took the AQHA gelding that he spent all those hours in the famous Road to the Horse round pens with him. James, who purchased The 6666 Ranch raised gelding following the event, is pleased to report the gelding has steadily progressed throughout the year.
“I couldn’t be happier with him” James remarked about the gelding Remember Sunset, who he affectionately calls Swampy. “Not only have I been working on his level of training under saddle, I have been doing a lot of training at liberty with Swampy. Those coming to Road to the Horse International 2013 will be in for quite a surprise. The bright eyed colt that everyone saw in 2012 has matured into a skilled team partner and I can’t wait to perform with Swampy in a special demonstration at Road to the Horse 2013.”
The 2009 AQHA gelding Remember Sunset is sired by The 6666 Ranch sire Seven from Heaven (by Playgun) and is out of the dam Remember Hanna (by Preferred Pay).
Road to the Horse will head to the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park, March 15-17. Go to www.roadtothehorse.com for more information or call 325.736.5000.
