Internationally acclaimed trainer and clinician Kerry Kuhn is hosting a fun and educational trail ride at the beautiful JJ Ranch in Coats, Kansas, Saturday and Sunday, October 27-28.
“The ranch is such a pretty place to ride,” says Kerry. “And it’s not all flat, like what most people think of Kansas. We ride up and down draws, through creekbeds, and along bluffs and cliffs. It’s just enough of a challenge to give people and horses a bit to think about. The daily rides are safe and rewarding — and will give you something to brag about back home.”
The ranch is a pretty place to camp, with a wide horizon punctuated with exceptional sunrises and sunsets. There are a limited number of RV hook-ups and plenty of camping spaces to spread out with horses.
Kerry will be conducting daily educational clinics for all participants. “This gives people a chance to ask questions and feel as though they’re gaining knowledge along with experience,” comments Kerry. “They’ll get useful information at each short clinic, and can then try out various techniques on the trail ride. Then they can ask questions of me during the ride and at the following clinic sessions.”
Saturday night is highlighted with a delicious barbecue around the campfire while listening to musical entertainment, and maybe even twirling around the dance floor a time or two. (The dance floor may be dirt and sagebrush, but who cares!) Sunday morning starts with a bountiful breakfast, followed by Cowboy Church.
“Many of my sponsors are donating special items for a drawing,” says Kerry, “like two pairs of handsome Olathe boots. All participants will receive coupons from Purina, too, and they’re providing all the feed for the weekend. The drawing will also include a free registration at one of my clinics, as well as a beautiful western art print from the Sagebrush Gallery of Western Art. Each rider will also receive a welcome bag with various products.”
The cost for the two days of riding, clinics, Saturday barbecue, Sunday breakfast, and Saturday evening entertainment is $100 per person. Each horse must have a current Coggins and health papers.
