Lynn Palm and Cyril Pittion-Rossillon have paired their two day Training with Natural Obstacles Clinic with a third day of training, competition and fun in an AQHA Trail Challenge.
While the teaching duo has conducted clinics at their Fox Grove Farm in Ocala, FL focused around the training arena with natural obstacles and terrain, these will be the first events coupled with an AQHA Trail Challenge.
The Training with Natural Obstacles Clinic improves the partnership between horse and rider through two days of instruction including rider’s position, natural aids communication and controlling the horse’s balance over various natural obstacles and terrain. The instruction will prep horses and their riders to participate in the AQHA Trail Challenge on the third day. On that day, the course will be open for organized practice and a short coaching session prior to the start of the competition.
The Trail Challenge is a judged course that tests a horse’s and rider’s ability to work as a team and navigate through natural obstacles they might experience on a trail. The purpose of a Trail Challenge is to enhance the horsemanship skills riders need while encouraging education, safety and fun on the trail. There are generally six to 16 obstacles, depending on the land and terrain. A judge or judges are located throughout the course evaluating a rider’s skills to maneuver his horse through the obstacle.
Each horse and rider team gains or loses points, depending on their ability to navigate the course. The partnership with the highest overall value is declared the Trail Challenge winner in each division.
Like the clinic, the Trail Challenge is open to all breeds of horses and levels of riders.
For clinic participants, convenient, on-site lodging, healthy meals prepared by Lynn, plush stabling and fun evening activities are included in this great weekend with an added bonus of the DVD training series TrailAbility valued at $75. Those participating in the Trail Challenge are welcome to extra amenities on a first come, first served basis.
