The 2010 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma is the third-largest NRHA-approved event in the world and hosts the $155,000 added Open Derby and $87,500 added Non Pro Derby. The show offers two slates of ancillary competition awarding prized Montana Silversmith buckles and NRHA trophies, as well as guaranteeing $50,000 to the winner of the NRHA Derby Level 4 Open division champion. Nearly 120 horses entered the Coliseum Arena today in the first go, first section of the NRHA Open Derby.

In draw 14 of the day, Wimpys Little Chic (Wimpys Little Step x Collena Chic Olena bred by Double Run Farms) and Shawn Flarida had their eye on the prize in the first section and took home the leading score with a 225.5. Arcese Quarter Horses USA made sure their stunning palomino mare "Lexi" was entered in this year’s NRHA Derby as she has already earned in excess of $75,000 at the show. The duo currently leads the go round at the $80,000 added NRHA Derby Level 4 Open division.

NRHA Futurity and Derby veterans Magnum With A Dream (Magnum Chic Dream x Shine On Sayo) and owner Josh Visser marked a 223.5 to place second in the Level 4 Open division and first in the $50,000 added Level 3 Open division. The duo have been finalists in the Level 4 and Level 3 Open divisions at the NRHA Futurity, NRHA Derby and NRBC to rack up more than $80,000 in NRHA earnings. Magnum With A Dream was bred by David Zimmerman.

The Sweet Spot (Mark This Spot x Sugar Pop Gun) and Bud Lyon took the top position in the $5,000 added Level 2 Open and $5,000 added Level 1 Open divisions with a 222.5 for owner Mary Jo Greiff. They are in a four-way tie for third in the Level 4 Open division and for second in the Level 3 Open division, respectively.

In the $5,000 added Open Prime Time division, Wimps Quixote Cody and NRHA Million Dollar Rider Brent Wright scored a 222 to be the one to beat in the go round. The Wimpys Little Step buckskin gelding, bred by Brian Hunt, is out of Cody Kay Quixote and is owned by Keri Sigman.

Competition continues the 22nd at the NRHA Derby Show with the first go, second section of the $155,000 added NRHA Open Derby.
