The 2004 Coca Cola Breeder’s Invitational Million Dollar Derby that took place in Reno, Nevada June 2nd through June 12th will be televised as a one hour broadcast on the AQHA’s weekly program America’s Horse on the Outdoor Life Network on Sunday August 1, 2004 at 6:00 pm Eastern Time. It will repeat at 2:00 am Eastern Time on Monday morning, August 2nd.

In addition to paying out over one million dollars to four year old cutting horses from all across the country, the Breeder’s Invitational also paid out $104,112.67 to the Stallion Owners and Mare Owners that bred each of the finalists.

The Open class was won by Clint Allen riding Aristo Katz, which is owned by Jack & Susan Waggoner of Bridgeport, Texas. The Waggoners also own the Sire, Smart Aristocrat, and the Dam, Katz, so they not only received the winner’s check for $100,171.44 but also received the Stallion Owner’s check for $6,010.29 and the Mare Owner’s check for $4,006.86.

Ascencion Banuelos, riding Lizs Lil Choice which was sired by SR Instant Choice and owned by Waddy & Margie Hills of Anson, TX, won the Open 10K class for the second year in row and earned $24,887.00.

Gayle Karanges of Fort Worth, TX won the Non Pro class and her husband Nick Karanges won the Amateur class on Stylish Amanda, owned by the Karanges and sired by Docs Stylish Oak, and took home a total of $61, 394.31.
