Hey, I’m Jennifer and I’m 13 years old. I’ve been riding since I was 10 and I really enjoy doing it. I don’t remember when I first fell in love with horses, but whatever I did, I’m glad I did! I ride a bay Morgan named Val. He’s taught me a lot about riding and about my ability to ride. I first had lots of trouble with him but working out his problems helps prepare me for when I have a horse of my own.

Val is a great horse but can be stubborn. He makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something after everytime I work hard at getting something. He isn’t always willing to canter -or even if he does canter, get on the right lead- but I work with him, and I do my best to figure out the tricks. After every lesson I have with Val, I think my love for horses grows stronger.

You don’t just fall in love with something overnight, you have to be sure that with every obstacle you have in the way of the love, you can beat. If you can’t beat it, but you still want to love it, you try again. It’s hard to fully appreciate everything about the horses you ride and care for.

I will never forget what Val has taught me. Val isn’t the only one that has taught me things, but also it’s one series of books: The Saddle Club. When I have a problem that I can’t figure out with Val, I read one of the books. Along with a good story is tips I get about riding and caring for Val. Bonnie Bryant and Val have taught me more information than I thought I’d get.
