I live in Mazatlan, Mexico. We have horses close to the beach and a rocky outcropping with caves housing bats. These bats "attack" the horses on a nightly basis. We were advised to use "petroleo" on them, but the bats simply bite somewhere else. As our business is guiding rides for tourists, the horses are forever sporting new bites and it is becoming noticable to the riders. We are at our wits’ end with this situation, but can’t seem to find a solution.

I have searched the internet on bats… finding only information on how to protect them… when I would simply love to be rid of them!!! Do you know of anything that would deter them from biting the horses’ ears and necks? Maybe something that is definitely not appealing to them, but at the same time would not be detrimental to our horses?

Please Help!!!!
Thank you

Julie,

The best solution is to stable the horses with screen wire over the windows to keep the bats out. As you have notice, once they start feeding it will be impossible to stop them without eliminating them.

Thanks,
