I am fifty years old and I just bought my first horse. He is a big black Canadian and his name is Seamus. I never grew up with horses so it was never a wish of mine. But when my youngest daughter fell in love with a friends horse, I found a stable that would give her lessons and I sat for a whole winter in that cold barn while she had a great ride. I thought well, instead of sitting here in the cold, just ask Dr. Peiper if I could start lessons on the longe line.

So at 44 I got on my first horse, it took a long time for me go beyond walk but one day while my daughter was having her lesson in the outside ring and I am on Fredia in the inside ring the instructor asked her to canter, well my bladder let go and I screamed so loud and long my daughter got off her horse and came to see what damage I had done to myself or the horse.

Now I wonder why it took me so long. I have had Seamus for a year and a half and he is the best thing that has every happened to me (outside of my kids). I still have to pinch myself to believe that it is not a dream, he really in the barn and he is not going anywhere.

Last year I bought myself a truck and trailer so now my daughter and I can go Hunting or to the Hunter Pace’s and I feel so liberated.

Thank you for letting me tell you my love story.
