My story started over a year ago when I went to see a horse. She was a sorrel and white overo paitn and they said she would make a great youth or ameatur all around show horse. My mom wasn’t to thrilled to go and see her because her price was so high. When I got there I fell in love with the mare. She had every quality a horse lover could want and more. Even though on the test ride she ran off with my sister, I fell in love and my mom saw that we "clicked".

We bought her and it took from October of 1999 through February of 2000 to pay her off. When we brought her home we rode and rode and rode. We knew she had speed but I wasn’t sure if I could handle it. So we took her to an arena and a friend showed her the barrels. WOW!!!!You could tell she loved them, she pranced and got all excited and fought you until she got to run them!!!!

Our training (mainly my training) continued until the first show in April. We showed that day and did every class, we did very good for our first show and even placed a few. My friend hopped on her for barrels and they won almost every speed event. I was so happy because everyone loved my new horse for her disposition and the fact she would do pleasure and be quiet but once she saw a barrel she turned hot!!!

Someone finally suggested we start in the Youth Rodeo. I thought it was agreat idea. So I found some info and we went. I had a BIG crowd go to my fist rodeo. Even though we didn’t win I was still so happy.

Today we are barrel racing in more rodeos and Barrel Jackpots where I got my first rodeo check getting a 2nd place in 4-D. I was SOOOO EXCITED!!! Maddie has always been there for me and she taught me the basics. I still hope we do good in the coming years. She really did teach me the turns.
