I have loved horses as long as I can remember and in 1998 I placed an ad in my local paper to sell my 1995 Camaro … almost immediately I recieved a call from a lady who was looking for a car for her 16 yr old daughter … she asked why I was selling the car…I told her I had just bought 17.5 acres and I needed the money to fence my land because I had my heart set on finally getting my own horse.

My truck was in great shape and I needed it for hauling so of course it was my car that had to go! She gave a lil laugh and replied … my daughter is selling her horse to get a car…and you are selling your car to get a horse!

I laughed as well. She mentioned this registered horse was in her 20’s but in great shape. We agreed to meet…my husband,of course, kept saying this horse is gonna be an old nag…you don’t want a horse that old…I told him it wouldn’t hurt to check her out. I anxiously pulled up in her drive and there she was…all saddled up. I was as excited as a 16 yr old about to get a new car! I rode her around the field as they test drove my car and immediately knew I wanted this horse.

I rode back to my husband and said…go ahead…take this old nag for a spin and open her up…see what she’s got smiling to myself as he got on I heard them run off to the end of the field and when they returned he was wide eyed…all he could say is…wow this horse can run! I just laughed and said…old nag, huh! The test drive was great for all of us…I told the lady I would be willing to make a deal to trade one kind of horse power for another!

She laughed and I lowered the price of the car to compensate what she was asking for the horse … and the deal was done. I still have "Dolly" & I wouldn’t trade her for the world! As a matter of fact, I have competed on my 24 yr old mare doing barrel racing and pole bending in local horse shows and placed in every one!

Forever dedicated to my "Dolly"….
