Hi.
My mare has lost part of her tail one month after she had her foal. I dont know how this hapened. We noticed a lump under her tail and at closer look we found a cut around the middle of the tail. We doctored the cut and it healed but she lost her tail about a week later. She has a hand length of a tail left. I am wondering if anyone knows of any info they can give me for this situation. I would glady accept any ideas on making her any more comfortable in spring and summer. Thanks alot. She has a four month old baby.

Melinda S. Parkermelinda,

Your mare will do fine this summer. Just keep fly spray on her and if you like a fly sheet. Horses adapt well.

Thanks,
