Semifinals for THE AMERICAN Rodeo to be Held in Mesquite, Texas

Tickets are now on sale for RFD-TV’s THE AMERICAN Presented by Polaris RANGER’s Semifinal Rodeo taking place in Mesquite, Texas on February 22-23, 2014. The Semifinals are the last opportunity for any cowboy or cowgirl to win a place in THE AMERICAN, where he or she will compete against the best in the world for part of a $2 million purse.

Tickets for THE AMERICAN Semifinals are available now for $14, $20 and $30, not including taxes. They can be purchased at the Mesquite Arena’s box office and online at www.americanrodeo.com.

The rodeo will consist of seven events (saddle bronc, bareback, tie-down roping, barrel racing, bull riding, team roping and steer wrestling). Contestants will be split into two performances: the first being Saturday night at 7 p.m. and the second being Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. The top finishers in each event will solidify their spot in THE AMERICAN.

“The Semifinals is shaping up to be almost exciting as THE AMERICAN will be. So many competitors are giving their all to have a chance to compete for part of the biggest one-day payouts in the history of western sports. THE AMERICAN Semifinals is definitely an event you don’t want to miss,” said Randy Bernard, president and CEO of Rural Media Group, Inc. “In barrel racing, we have competitors between the ages of 14 and 70 so far. And we have two impressive 16-year-olds competing in the tie-down roping event. I’m sure more exceptional stories will surface as the qualifying events continue.”

RFD-TV’s THE AMERICAN Rodeo will be held on March 2, 2014 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It is the richest rodeo in the history of western sports with a $2 million payout. The top five winners from the semifinals will compete against the top 10 athletes after the PBR World Finals and the WNFR. The only other way to qualify for THE AMERICAN is a special exemption granted by RFD-TV. Recently, two-time World Champion Justin McBride was chosen as an exemption in the bull riding event, and Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame bronc rider Dan Mortensen received an exemption in the saddle bronc competition.

Tickets for RFD-TV’s THE AMERICAN all Ticketmaster locations and at americanrodeo.com.  Prices for each event range from $20 to $150, not including taxes
