Youth participation continues to be strong throughout the week at the NRHA Derby. On Tuesday youth officers, delegates, and members went to the Oklahoma City Boathouse to participate in team building activities to further strengthen their leadership skills. They also took a tour of the Olympic training facility.
“Leadership development and team building are two skills that we take seriously at NRHA. Undoubtedly these are two characteristics that make great leaders, and the youth are not only the future of NRHA, but also the entire horse industry,” said Hayley Lewallen, Senior Coordinator of Marketing.
Wednesday was filled with plenty more youth activities. Starting at 1 p.m., youth members competed in three different categories at the Anderson Bean Speaking Contest. After the contest NRHyA hosted a welcome party for all the Interscholastic Equestrian Association contestants who are hosting their Western National Finals this weekend in Oklahoma City during the NRHA Derby.
NRHyA will host a youth membership meeting tomorrow, June 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sale Arena. All youth are encouraged to come and enjoy a cool treat and learn about all the amazing opportunities NRHyA offers!
