“America’s Favorite Trail Horse” to be Crowned December 6

HRTV (R), The Network for Horse Sports, premiered a popular new weekly reality series, "America's Favorite Trail Horse," in September, and the 13-week series, featuring horse and rider in tandem, will reach an exciting conclusion on Tuesday, Dec. 6 (8 p.m. ET) when "America's Favorite Trail Horse" is crowned.

In addition to owning that unique title, the winner will receive $25,000, with second and third places awarded $15,000 and $10,000, respectively.

The overall winner will be unveiled on Dec. 6, determined through viewer voting online at http://www.actha.us/, following the final competition, which took place on Nov. 29.  This same procedure produced the 10 weekly horse-rider finalists that earned the right to compete for the coveted honor of being “America’s Favorite Trail Horse.”  (The weekly winners earned $5,000.).

The series gained interest from across with the U.S., with 10 weekly winners encompassing nine different states, including: Virginia, Louisiana, Ohio, Florida, Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, Alabama, and Wisconsin.

The innovative series was first announced by the American Competitive Trail Horse Association (ACTHA) and HRTV last March. Shown exclusively on HRTV, the initial episode debuted on Sept. 13 and continued for 13 consecutive Tuesday nights.  It has showcased the top 100 trail horses from all over the country competing for $100,000 (overall prize money) at the Franklin Family Ranch in Austin, TX.  At the April auditions, horses and trainers were asked to complete four basic trail maneuvers and have the elective of incorporating a fifth element of any skill set that relates to Trail.

The weekly shows were co-hosted by Mark Peterson and Dusty, and produced by Dan Nyberg of Electric Picture Company.

The final show will be further enhanced by a fun, entertaining segment, containing videos from kids with their horses.
